1. Eating at an Italian Restaurant without regret

Joseph and I went to our favorite Italian restaurant tonight.  Italian usually means meals that start with bread and butter, minestrone soup covered with parmesan, and pasta dishes dripping with riccotta and mozzarella cheese.  Now, I’m a sucker for lasagna, the thicker the better!  But, I’ve given up dairy and starch due to my skin issues.  So what else is there to eat other than a plain salad with grilled chicken?

I have found that good restaurants are happy to accommodate special requests.  So I asked for chicken breast without the breading, and substituted grilled vegetables for the pasta.  Some marinara sauce instead of butter, and I was a happy camper!  My tummy was happy, and still flat, versus the bloat that I would have had if I had eaten the cheese and pasta!

Don’t be afraid to ask for substitutions when you eat out!  You can still enjoy a restaurant experience without the regret!!!
