1. You can’t outrun a bad diet

I’ve been following a really strict anti-candida diet since January 23, 2010.  It’s been five months since I was diagnosed with a really bad candida yeast infection which caused a horrible case of eczema that covered about 80% of my body.  The diet not only cleared up my eczema completely, but I also went from 119 lbs to 107 lbs.  Was it fun?  Nuh uh.  No sugar, no dairy, no flour, no soy, no pasta, no crackers, no, no, no.  I lived on brown rice cakes and almond butter when I went to California in May.  But it got rid of my eczema, which was the goal.

And now that I’m clear of it, I’ve loosened up my diet.  A little too much, I think!  Today I went to breakfast with some friends, and although I did order what I had preplanned (2 poached eggs, brown rice, and a turkey patty), I totally indulged in some red velvet pancakes!  Definitely NOT on any kind of diet, except a see-food diet!  My husband says, that’s ok, you’ve been so strict for so long, but you know, I can see how addictive sugar is, and it scared me how easily I fell back into it even after so long.

I’m back up to 112 lbs, which is a healthy weight for me, but my limit for gaining weight.  So now it’s back to planning and sticking to clean meals that will fuel my workouts.  I use myfitnesspal.com and planned my meals for tomorrow.

I worked out to an extra long Turbo Fire workout (Fire 60) even though I was scheduled for just a stretch today, to burn off some of those calories.  I was even tempted to do another HIIT 30 workout.  But I know that being lean means keeping it clean in the kitchen, and not overtraining to make up for eating junk.  So, I had Shakeology for lunch (with unsweetened almond milk, a total of 180 calories), and for dinner I had chicken breast with zucchini and mushrooms.  So I feel practically virtuous!
